Black Diamond resident Ella May Walker was stabbed to death Friday afternoon in her home in the 25000 block of Morgan Street.

The woman’s 50-year-old son, Cecil Douglas Walker, was quickly taken into custody and has been charged with first degree murder, domestic violence. Saturday, a judge found probable cause to keep Walker in jail and he was scheduled for a bond hearing Monday afternoon.

Sgt. Greg Goral from the police department said at 4:45 p.m. Friday the son walked into the police department, told a records clerk there was a dead body at his residence and then left the station. He had returned to the home he shared with his mother before police arrived.

Goral said officers went to the scene and the son walked out of the home. He had blood on his shirt and face, according to court documents. The officers found the woman fatally stabbed inside the house.

Goral said the son made statements to the officers. “Enough for officers to take him into custody,” Goral said.

According to a statement of probable cause, Walker was taken to the Black Diamond police station, where he was questioned by Lt. Eric Sortland of the Major Crimes Task Force and Officer Kris Chatterson of the Black Diamond force.

Walker said the slain woman was his mother and admitted the blood on his clothing was “most definitely from Ella.”

Asked how his mother’s blood wound up on him, Walker said, “It could have been from the knife.”

Walker soon became quiet, stating, “I have been through a lot” and refused to answer any more questions.

The Coalition of Small Police Agencies Major Crimes Task Force responded to the scene and the Washington State Patrol was charged with the forensic investigation.

According to Goral, the scene showed the crime was very violent and “there was a lot of passion in it.”
