THE PARTY’S OVER: Police late on Nov. 20 were dispatched to a residence in the 4600 block of North Island Drive East for a report report of a possible party. The reporting party stated the elderly owners of the residence were away but that there were multiple vehicles and multiple people at the residence. Upon arrival, police contacted four males in a car who said there were people and alcohol inside. Police knocked on the front door of the building and announced themselves as police officers and heard sounds of movement from inside the building as well as seeing someone peeking through the blinds. Police also observed that interior lights were on when they approved, but were turned off during their attempts to contact the occupants. Officers again announced they were police and commanded the persons in the residence to identify themselves. A lone male voice called back that police had no right to be there and they should get a warrant. He continually refused to comply with officer demands to identify himself so officers could determine if he had a right to be in the residence at which time the suspect yelled “I’m not telling you nothing ’til you get a warrant!” police advised that if he did not comply they would have to force entry to the building. After he refused multiple orders from police, an officer deployed his Taser. The suspect fell to the floor and rolled onto his back, but continued to refuse to comply with police demands to roll onto his stomach with his hands up. He was Tasered a second and third time after continuing to resist police. He was finally handcuffed and arrested. It was later determined the male was the grandson of the property owner, but did not have permission to be in the residence or to throw a party. Police, with the aid of other individuals at the party, disposed of the alcohol and collected the drug paraphernalia as evidence. Because of their cooperation, the remaining individuals were released without charges. The male suspect’s mother arrived and confirmed his identity. Police searched the suspect and discovered a truck key registered to the mother. The vehicle was located and contained in plain view drug paraphernalia and a bag of marijuana. The truck was returned to the suspect’s mother, though police removed the illegal items. The male suspect was transported to Buckley Jail and booked on charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, furnishing liquor to minors and minor in possession of alcohol.
