The Bonney Lake High boys turned things around Friday night, collecting their first South Puget Sound League 3A win of the season.
The lopsided conquest occurred before an appreciative home gathering, as the Panther boys hosted and throttled Peninsula High 74-57 to lift their SPSL 3A record to 1-3.
As the Seahawks began to show signs of life in the third period, charging back to trail the Panthers only 49-43 at third period’s conclusion, the black and teal decided it better put the pedal to the metal and pulled away with the help of back-court tandem Lawrence Williams and Ramsey Thoms, which hooked up to put a total of 49 points on the board.
Things didn’t go nearly as well Jan. 11 when the Panthers visited Lakes High and trailed 52-26 by intermission.
Bonney Lake slowed down the Lancer steamroller just a little in the remaining 16 minutes of play but was still buried 89-49.
The lone highlight in that one-sided rendezvous was provided by senior guard Nathan Day who dropped in 17 points.
