Students enrolled in Bonney Lake Elementary School will be relocating to the unnamed Elementary No. 9 in the Cascadia development. As part of the move, Sumner School District is accepting potential names for the school through June 25.
“Naming a school is a lasting decision that reflects the community and our district culture,” Superintendent Gil Mendoza said. “We value community input in that process.”
Suggested names are required to be either geographical or biographical. The name must describe the land features or characteristics of the school location, or be taken from a person of character who has attained local or national prominence.
Nominators will provide their suggestion, a rationale, their name and contact information. The school board will select the school’s name in July.
Nominations can be sent to the Community Relations Office in the school district building at 1202 Wood Ave, or submitted to the district’s Web site, www.sumnersd.org.
