Bonney Lake formally welcomed in the holiday season Nov. 3 with its annual tree lighting celebration.

As always, the Bonney Lake Elementary School Viking Choir got things started with a performance of Christmas tunes, all while the audience munched on cookies and cocoa supplied by the Bonney Lake Kiwanis, who sponsored the event.

When the time came, Mayor Neil Johnson led a countdown as a member of the choir who was celebrating a birthday pushed the button to light the tree and lights along Main Street.

The night closed with a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself, who arrived via East Pierce Fire and Rescue fire truck and posed for pictures with kids of al ages.
