When the Sumner High girls basketball squad plays its subdistrict seeding games Thursday night at North Mason High School, it will travel with the confidence that comes from a 10-4 regular season, a campaign in which the Spartans lost only to White River and Eatonville, both ranked among the top 10 Class 2A squads in the state.
WRHS and Eatonville finished the regular campaign deadlocked with 13-1 records, having only lost to one another, and were involved in a one-game play-off for the top seed Tuesday night.
The lion’s share of the young Spartans’ success has been rooted in 6-foot freshman Jaime Lange who currently is averaging double-doubles in league contests with 11 points and 10 rebounds per encounter.
