The film discussion is a Pierce County READS 2015 signature event. Pierce County Library System and The Grand Cinema are partnering to present a screening of Leni Riefenstahl’s film. Riefenstahl was a groundbreaking film director and cinematographer who innovated many film techniques still used today. She was also a supporter of the Third Reich and used her skills to create powerful Nazi propaganda, including “Triumph of the Will,” her most notorious work.

Set during the time of the Third Reich, “The Boys in the Boat” is the 2015 selection for Pierce County Library’s 8th annual Pierce County READS program, presented in partnership with The News Tribune. Pierce County READS is a one-community, one-book program that encourages everyone in the county to read the same book at the same time and then come together to talk about it.
