A monthly program for Bonney Lake gardeners is being offered by the Pierce County Library System.
All are invited to grow their own organic herbs and vegetables at the Bonney Lake Community Garden. A six-part series of classes will cover everything from garden planning to preserving the crop and composting the remains.
All classes will begin at 11 a.m., rain or shine. Attendees will meet at the library – 18501 90th St. E. – and walk the short distance to the community garden.
The schedule is as follows:
• April 18 – Garden planning and early planting: cold-hearty plants.
• May 9 – Planting vegetables and herbs: frost-sensitive plants.
• June 13 – Watering, feeding and weeding.
• July 11 – Garden maintenance, pruning, thinning and staking.
• Aug. 8 – Composting and mulching.
• Sept. 12 – Harvesting and preserving.
