Spartan girls named to all-league team

After dominating the league on their way to a state championship, the Sumner Spartans girls soccer team this week dominated the South Puget Sound League 2A girls all-league soccer team.

After dominating the league on their way to a state championship, the Sumner Spartans girls soccer team this week dominated the South Puget Sound League 2A girls all-league soccer team.

Spartans were named the offensive and defensive MVPs, as well as goalkeeper of the year and coach of the year.

Senior Kaylie Rozell received the offensive MVP honors. Rozell had 31 goals and 15 assists this season.

On the other side of the ball, Sarah Carter was named defensive MVP.

Jaimie Lange was named Goalkeeper of the Year, in part for her 16 shutouts in Sumner’s championship season.

In total, the Spartan goalkeeping squad allowed just two goals against all season.

Along with Rozell, a forward, Sophomores Brooke Lancaster and Dacia Alexander were named first team midfielders, senior Sarah Carter was named a first-team defender and Lange a first-team goalie.

Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Murray was named to the second-team midfielders and junior Nichole Delaney was named to the second-team defenders.

Along with the players, Robi Turley was named Coach of the Year.

The Spartans finished the year a perfect 21-0 and won the 2A state championship.
