A struggling Sumner High volleyball squad dropped two contests last week, falling 3-1 to Enumclaw Sept. 28 in a South Puget Sound League 3A battle before losing a nonleague match 3-0 to Capital High of Olympia on Sept. 30.

A struggling Sumner High volleyball squad dropped two contests last week, falling 3-1 to Enumclaw Sept. 28 in a South Puget Sound League 3A battle before losing a nonleague match 3-0 to Capital High of Olympia on Sept. 30.

In the Enumclaw tussle, 6-foot, 2-inch Sumner hitter Sidney Erickson was in the zone with 17 kills and Kailey Smith put together 27 assists. When Sumner made the long sojourn to Olympia, Smith managed 18 assists, senior hitters Erickson and Kayla Roberts combined for 14 kills and Janille Panula put together 11 digs and three aces.

Sumner took the bus to Enumclaw Tuesday night, still searching for its initial league victory, with results coming too late to include here; look for the scores online at www.courierherald.com. Sumner will host Franklin Pierce Thursday.
