GYMNASATICS: Bonney Lake takes third, Sumner places fourth in meet with Auburn, Puyallup

Bonney Lake and Sumner high school gymnastics teams finished third and fourth, respectively behind Puyallup and Auburn during competition Dec. 16 at Auburn.

Bonney Lake and Sumner high school gymnastics teams finished third and fourth, respectively behind Puyallup and Auburn during competition Dec. 16 at Auburn.

Puyallup won the meet with 152.2 points, followed closely by Auburn with 148. Bonney Lake closed out the night with 141.45 points and Sumner finished fourth with 125.05.

Sumner’s Lisbet Fernandez finished fourth in the all-around competition with Bonney Lake’s Alix Brown right behind in fifth. Panther Sarah Skinner took eighth in the all-around portion, while Aja Ruswick of Sumner was ninth.

Bonney Lake’s Kelsey Wells-Henderson captured second in the vault with Sumner’s Brown taking third. Fernandez came in sixth with Skinner finishing 10th.

Brown also took fourth in the uneven bars and fifth on the balance beam for Bonney Lake. In the beam competition, Wells-Henderson and Fernandez tied for sixth. Ruswick came in 10th.

On the bars, Wells-Henderson, Fernandez and Ruswick finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively. Skinner took 10th.

Fernandez also captured fourth. Panther teammates Skinner and Brown tied for eighth.

Both teams rest up during the holidays and return to action Jan. 6 at Auburn Riverside.
