Subjects in the police blotter are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

LICENSE SUSPENDED: At 1:09 a.m. June 20, an officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The Department of Licensing check showed a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest and later released with a citation and notice of infraction.

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding at 1:37 a.m. June 20. The driver had red, watery and droopy eyes. He had very slurred speech and was very unsteady on his feet. He refused all voluntary tests of sobriety and was placed under arrest for DUI.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: At 4:19 a.m. June 20, a woman entered the lobby of the police department. She said her son had just punched the window of her vehicle and broke it. The officer checked the area and could not locate him.

USING THEIR WORDS: At 10:3 p.m., officers were dispatched to Ewing Street on a report of a female yelling. Officers contacted an 18-year-old woman from Buckley who advised that she and her boyfriend, a 23-year-old from Buckley, had been arguing. The woman admitted to breaking a picture in the bedroom and told police her boyfriend had left the house. The woman had a cut on her foot and leg which she said had come from the glass she broke. Officers could not find her boyfriend, and cleared the call. They were able to contact him the next day, and he reported the argument had been verbal only.

ASSAULT: At 8:42 p.m. June 22, officers wre dispatched to an altercation at a state Route 410 business. A 50-year-old man from Oregon had assaulted two employees. The man also obstructed officers during the incident and threatened to kill an officer. He attempted to kick an officer in the head. He was arrested, issued a criminal citation and transported to Pierce County Jail, to be transported to the state of Idaho on an outstanding felony warrant.

ACCIDENT: At 4:11 a.m. June 23, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch on Ryan Road. No one was inside, and the registered owner was not reachable. The car was impounded.

HIT AND RUN: At 5:10 p.m. June 23, a 37-year-old woman from Maple Valley reported she had been the victim of a hit and run on the 410 near Park Avenue. She was able to provide a license plate, vehicle description and driver description. The woman’s vehicle had damage consistent with having been rear-ended.

TWO-ON-ONE: Shortly after midnight on South Naches Street, officers responded to a reported assault. Officers contacted an intoxicated 25-year-old who said he had been assaulted by two unknown males. He said he had been punched and kicked in the head and had lost consciousness. A 47-year-old woman from Oregon told officers she witnessed the attack. Oficers investigated teh area but could not find suspects matching the description.

FIREARM THEFT: At 11 a.m. June 24, a man reported a backpack containing a firearm had been stolen from his vehicle. He stated he parked his vehicle on South River Avenue, secured it, and returned several hours later to find the satchel missing. The pistol was listed as stolen and the case was forwarded to investigations.
