Ground has been broken and construction is officially underway on the new Franciscan Medical Pavilion at the corner of state Route 410 and Sky Island Drive.
Workers are building a three-story, 45,000-square-foot medical office building for physicians’ offices, an urgent-care medical clinic and other outpatient health-related services.
In addition to primary care physicians and a clinic where adults and children receive prompt care for minor illnesses and injuries, Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Bonney Lake will include laboratory, diagnostic imaging and other ancillary outpatient services, according to a press release.
Also being constructed on site is a 27,753-square-foot, two-story parking garage to accommodate about 200 cars.
Franciscan last year reached an agreement with the city over traffic mitigation fees in which the developers provided the city with a single, lump-sum payment of $1 million and dedicate a strip of land as right-of-way.
The money will be used for frontage improvements including curbs, gutters, sidewalks, lights, trees and landscaping along state Route 410 and 184th Avenue East, also known as Sky Island Drive, which will also need to be widened.
The mitigation is due to the expected additional 142 car trips through the intersection per hour on weekday afternoons to the site.
Work on the 3.2-acre site began this past week with an expected completion date of March 2013.
