The Bonney Lake Panthers placed third and the Sumner Spartans were fourth when they traveled Dec. 8 to Emerald Ridge High School for a four-team gymnastics meet.

It was the first action of the season for both the Panthers and Spartans, who trailed meet-winning Todd Beamer High and the host Jaguars.

Bonney Lake’s Kelsey Wells-Henderson was tops among the local competitors, placing seventh in the all-around competition. Her best showings were in the floor exercise, where she was fifth with an 8.0 score, and in the vault, where her 8.25 left her tied for ninth.

Also for Bonney Lake, Mallory Zimbelson scored 7.0 to tie for eighth on the beam.

For Sumner High, Kimi Nakayhama scored 7.1 to place sixth on the bars and Aja Ruswick scored 7.4 to tie for 10th in the floor exercise.
