The work of Bonney Lake photographer Mike Dilbeck will be on display at Enumclaw’s Gallery 2013 through Feb. 5.
Dilbeck’s approach is to capture images that frequently defy the viewer to identify even very familiar sites or objects, concentrating on the elements and principles of art to present expressive and often abstract imagery. It’s his way of looking at and sharing the beauty of natural objects.
Dilbeck’s work has been shown at the Enumclaw gallery a number of times and at galleries in Auburn, Puyallup, Yakima and Port Townsend.
In a written statement, Dilbeck describes his work as “simplistic, complicated and everything in between all at the same time. It is also, many times, not recognizable, which are the type of images I enjoy presenting. Making people pause, look a little deeper and think about what they see. I hope to illustrate that there are many dramatic scenes in nature that tend to be overlooked because they are around us every day just waiting for us to stumble upon them. I’m constantly looking for those unique moments when nature presents itself in a truly magnificent way.”
Gallery 2013 is in the council chambers at Enumclaw City Hall. 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
