Beginning Tuesday, drivers living in Eastown may have to find new routes to state Route 410 as the intersection at 233rd Street is scheduled to be closed through the weekend.

The 410 widening project is continuing and the new lanes have been added, but the work to realign 233rd with 234th Avenue East is about to come to come to the fore.

To complete that project, 233rd will be completely closed through the weekend as crews work on the road. Drivers who regularly use that stretch of road are encouraged to take 96th Street East to 214th Avenue East to reach SR 410.

Paving of the new roadway is scheduled for Thursday and Friday and traffic is scheduled to be shifted to the new intersection Monday.

Bonney Lake public works director Dan Grigsby said there are no plans to close 410 or 234th during the work.

The total cost of the work on SR410, including the added lanes and infrastructure improvements is $29.3 million.
