TACOMA – The Friends of the Bonney Lake Library invite people in the community to share good books at Bonney Lake Pierce County Library, 18501 90th St. E.
The free discussion group, Books on Tapps, meets on the following Thursdays at 7 p.m.
March 28 – “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams
Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent and his friend Ford Prefect begin a journey through the galaxy.
April 25
The group will enjoy the book selected for Pierce County READS, a community one book program that encourages everyone in Pierce County to read and discuss the same book at the same time.
May 30 –“The Cider House Rules” by John Irving
Dr. Wilbur Larch—saint, obstetrician, orphanage founder, ether addict and abortionist—mentors orphan Homer Wells.
June 27 – “The Greatest Generation Speaks” by Tom Brokaw
The generation of Americans who fought in World War II and came home to build a new America respond to Brokaw’s tribute through their letters.
July 25 – “Seabiscuit” by Laura Hillenbrand
A rough-hewn, undersized horse fought his trainers and floundered at the lowest level of racing before his dormant talent turned him into a champion.
Aug. 29 – “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini
The unlikely friendship of a wealthy Afghan youth and a servant’s son spans the final days of Afghanistan’s monarchy through the atrocities of the
present day.

Sept. 26 – “My Stroke of Insight” by Jill Bolte Taylor
Taylor, a brain scientist, observed her own mind deteriorate after a massive stroke. She shares her unique perspective on the brain and its capacity for recovery.
