With summer now officially under way it’s time for another Plateau tradition as bargain hunters around the region get ready for the annual Tapps Island Garage Sale.
This year’s event is scheduled for this weekend, rain or shine. The happenings get started Friday with a day just for Island residents and their guests to check out the hundreds of sales throughout the community.
Things really get hopping Saturday and Sunday when the event is open to the general public. Hundreds of shoppers from around the region are expected to make their way to the North Lake Tapps community.
The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and there will be a $5 fee per car entering the island on Saturday.
Historically, approximately 250 homes in the community participate in the two-day shopping extravaganza. A map will be available to let shoppers know which homes are participating in this year’s sale.

Note: This story was corrected to reflect that there will only be a $5 per carload charge on Saturday, not both days as was originally published.
