Panther senior seeks kidney to attend college

Maddie Lea, a Bonney Lake High School senior, has a rare genetic disorder that causes her kidneys to slowly shut down. Normally, this disorder affects men more severely than women, but Maddie found out last May that she will need a new kidney soon or will have to go on dialysis before she can start college in the fall. East Pierce fills the boot despite rain

East Pierce Fire and Rescue went out last weekend to collect money for the annual Fill the Boot fundraiser. Nearly $9,000 was raised to help send kids with muscular dystrophy to a specially-designed summer camp that allows kids with muscular dystrophy to participate in the same activities other kids can. Midtown residents to reimburse city for new sewer lift

Bonney Lake is constructing a new sewer lift station in Midtown, and is hoping property owners in the area will reimburse them for the project. The council recently created an Assessment Reimbursement Area, which requires Midtown property owners to pay a Latecomer Fee if and when they connect to the city’s sewer line. Connecting to a sewer line is currently voluntary unless property is built, sold or a septic tank breaks and there are nearby sewer lines. Sumner High pair compete in all-state series

Two sumner high baseball stars, Preston Fullington and Nathan Harrell, were picked to head over to Eastern Washington to participate in the all-state baseball series. Both played for Team Adams. Read more about the all-state games here.
