Saturday is a special day throughout the Plateau, with family-friendly, holiday-themed activities planned from morning until night.
The busy day kicks off with Magical Morning, a popular offering of the Enumclaw Parks and Recreation Department. The event will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Enumclaw Expo Center fieldhouse. There’s a $5 admission fee for anyone 3 and older.
The price of admission includes a catered breakfast, kids crafts and entertainment by the Susan Pascal Duo. For an additional fee, Santa will be on hand for photos.
The Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this year’s holiday parade through downtown and, while the parade doesn’t roll until 6 p.m., the chamber is aiming to keep families entertained for hours.
The day will carry the theme “Whoville” and plans are in the works to encourage everyone to enjoy holiday shopping opportunities in town. The chamber also is planning a tree decorating contest and will have loads of snow hauled down from the hills and piled up in the lot adjacent to the chamber office on Cole Street.
A performance by the Allegro Women’s Ensemble will begin at 4 p.m.
Parade entrants will begin staging at 3:30 p.m. and the parade will get rolling over Cole Street at 6 p.m. Before and during the parade, candles will be sold for 50 cents and the public will be invited to participate in a “candle walk” following the parade.
In Buckley, the annual Christmas tree auction, raffle and dance begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Buckley Eagles. Tickets are $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door. Proceeds are used for city beautification efforts.

Wilkeson’s second annual Home Town Christmas and Lighting Contest Celebration is planned for 3:30 pm until dark at Wilkeson Town Hall. Those attending will enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, children’s activities from 3:30 to 5:30, a visit by Santa from 4:15 to 5:15 (with photos) and horse-drawn rides from 4 until dark. The lighting contest winners and business Christmas Spirit Trophy winner will be announced during the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at dark.
The event is sponsored by Wilkeson Historical Society and the town of Wilkeson.
Those wanting to get an early start on the festive weekend can head to Black Diamond Friday evening.
Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Black Diamond Community Center.
Local musician Stan Terrell will lead caroling at 6:30 p.m. Santa arrives to light the community Christmas tree at 7. Afterward, everyone is invited inside the center for refreshments. Santa will be available for children 12 years old and younger to sit on his lap and receive a goody bag.
