As deep as his team is on both the boy’s and girl’s side of things, Bonney Lake High cross country coach Andrew Foster is projecting a middle-of-the-pack finish for his crew this season.
This speaks volumes regarding the dominance that exists in the South Puget Sound League 3A, which includes pacesetters Enumclaw and Peninsula.
The Panthers will perhaps be a dark horse in the SPSL 3A girls race. Foster admits his lady harriers may end up as one of the teams going to state, but also holds they are young and inexperienced.
Led by sophomore Marie Wilson, youth is served among the Panthers as they also boast sophomores Sierra Espinal and Hope Dickson. Seniors Chloe Beal and Emily Campbell round out the top five.
The boys are blessed with a wealth of experience in Reed Hawkins, Chris Koos, Steven Brown and Zach Parmley. Junior Jacob Theriault and sophomore Ryan McGraw will be aspiring to play roles in making Bonney Lake competitive in the tough SPSL 3A.
BLHS will keep the rivalry with Sumner alive in a nonleague meet at 3:15 p.m. today, Wednesday, in Bonney Lake.
