Camp focuses on ball handling
Advantage Basketball Camps will offer a three-day ball-handling and shooting program in Bonney Lake Aug. 16 to Aug. 18 at Mountain View Middle School.
Camps are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $195, register before Saturday and save $30.

Golf tournament benefits WRHS
There are still openings for the fifth annual White River boys basketball golf tournament Aug. 1 at High Cedars Golf Club in Orting. The event features a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
This fundraiser benefits the White River High boys basketball team.
The tournament is a four-person scramble format. Entry fee is $75 for a single or $300 for a team and includes golf, cart and lunch.
Prizes will be awarded for long drive, KPs, low gross, low net and putting.
Individual and joint opportunities are available for sponsorship.
The tournament is limited to the first 36 paid teams. Registration ends July 31.

Kahne earns another Top 10
Enumclaw NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kasey Kahne earned another Top 10 finish Saturday night in Chicago. The sixth-place finish moved Kahne down one spot to 17th in drivers standings.
WRHS fundraiser brings in $3,460
Ford Motor Company and Fugate Ford Mercury partnered to help raise $3,460 for White River High basketball as part of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program.
The May 8 event brought in 173 participants to test drive a Ford or Mercury vehicle. Ford and Fugate Ford Mercury donated $20 for each driver.
“We were excited to see so many people show up in support of White River High School,” said Gloria Perry, a manager at Fugate Ford Mercury. “The event also gave us a chance to showcase our outstanding lineup of vehicles in a fun, casual environment.”
“Fundraising is especially hard during a tough economy,” said Chris Gibson, White River athletic director. “We’re so thankful to our Ford, Fugate Ford Mercury and the public for their support.”
Baseball clinic offers inside view
One of the biggest baseball clinics on the West Coast, The Washington-DeMarini/Wilson Top 96, will take place at Sumner High July 27-28.
Instructors from at least 10 Division I schools will be on hand to actively recruit players and enlighten high school prospects as to what it takes to play baseball at the next level.
Coaches will be on the field interacting with the amateurs attending the two-day clinic, to provide feedback and realistic evaluations for those attending.
The registration fee for the clinic is $395 and those registered will receive discounts on DeMarini bats and Wilson gloves.
