Bonney Lake standout runner Veronica Stinnett bested a large field Saturday to win the 800-meter race at the prestigious Lake Washington Invitational.
She clocked a time of 2 minutes, 15.22 seconds, defeating her nearest competitor by a full second.
Bonney Lake’s girls finished 14th in the field of 55 teams with 18 points.
Thursday, the Panthers competed against Enumclaw and Peninsula in Purdy.
Panther Brandon Baumchan won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.34 seconds and Jordin Andrade was right behind him in second place with a clocking of 52.06 seconds. Additionally, Baumchan finished with a silver in the 800.
On the girls side, with the exception of Veronica Stinnett being conspicuous by her absense, there were the usual suspects with the Cannon twins Leslie and Haylie as well as Taylor Howick finishing near the top in the 100- and 200-meter sprint events and Kimber Kober showing well in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles as well as the triple jump, which she won with an accumulated bounce of 32 feet, 7 inches.
Andara Winder turned in her usual stellar performances in the field events, winning the shot put with a toss of 40-10.5 inches and finishing second in the discus at 95-11.5.
Stinnett was only seen in the Bonney Lake foursome that included the Cannon sisters and Howick that won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:12.90.
