Two teenagers were stabbed and a third landed in jail Saturday afternoon, the result of a brawl arranged through social media.
It was shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday when multiple 911 calls were received by emergency dispatchers. Witnesses told of the pre-arranged fight, which turned into a stabbing, in the vicinity of Kibler Avenue and Lorraine Street in Enumclaw.
Police responded and found two victims, one 18 and one 16. The suspect had fled the scene. The 18-year-old was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were considered life-threatening, according to an EPD press release. The 16-year-old was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw, treated and released.
EPD Capt. Bob Huebler said the two 18-year-olds had agreed to fight, using social media to identify a time and place to meet. When the fight turned into a stabbing, the 16-year-old got involved and suffered minor injuries.
The suspect had been driven from the scene and police quickly located and stopped the automobile. The suspect was not in the car, but was nearby and approached officers on foot. He was taken into custody.
He was arrested and taken to the Regional Justice Center, where he remained Monday morning.
The suspect, Huebler said, was arrested by city police for first-degree assault, a felony. A final decision on charges will be made by the King County Prosecutor’s Office.
