Track: White River, Enumclaw and Auburn Mountainview go head-to-head (-to-head)

Athletes from White River and Enumclaw high school picked up handfuls of individual first-place finishes Thursday as the Plateau schools battled with Auburn Mountainview in track and field action on the EHS campus.

Athletes from White River and Enumclaw high school picked up handfuls of individual first-place finishes Thursday as the Plateau schools battled with Auburn Mountainview in track and field action on the EHS campus.

From a team perspective, it was the White River boys who emerged 2-0, defeating Enumclaw 99-46 and blasting AMHS 115-30. The EHS boys easily defeated Auburn Mountainview 96-44. The Enumclaw girls defeated White River 78-71 but lost to AMHS 84-66. The White River girls, aside from their close loss to Enumclaw, were thumped by Mountainview 102-46.

In the boys competition, White River winners included Collin Green, who captured both the 200- and 400-meter runs. He won the 200 with a time of 23.52 seconds and took the 400 in 51.33. Also a two-time winner was Kramer Green, who was tops in both hurdle races; the won the 110-meter race in 16.60 and took the 300-meter event in 40.88. Other WRHS winners on the day were Marcus Dickson, who won the 1,600 meters in 4:37.03; Caleb Murphy, who won the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 7.5 inches; Aaron Toman, tops in the high jump with a leap of 5-8; and Austin Shirey, who won the pole vault by clearing 12-0.

White River also won both the 400- and 1,600-meter relays. The winning quartet in the 400 was Michael Madden, Travis Morris, Kramer Green and Collin Green. Taking the 1,600 were Kramer Green, Marcus Dickson, Mat Dickson and Collin Green.

Winners for the Enumclaw boys were Darek Goch, 100 meters, 11.6; Braden Timpe, 800 meters, 1:57.04; Jordan Grant, discus, 133-01; Joe Cerne, javelin, 160-06; and Trulan Rockwood, triple jump, 39-4.

In girls competition, EHS winners were Stephanie Schreiner, who took the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.39 and won the triple jump with an effort of 34-03.5; Melissa Gonzales, 3,200 meters, 12:53; AnnaMarie Forza, javelin, 123-01; Hailey Olafson, pole vault, 8-3; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Carissa Gwerder, Schreiner, Emily Eilertson and Angela Lindsey, 4:17.21.

White River girls winning events were Lauryn Wate in the 1,600 meters, 5:42.73; Carley McCutchen, 300-meter hurdles, 45.92.

Next up for all South Puget Sound League 3A track and field athletes is Thursday’s subdistrict meet at Sumner. High, followed by the May 21 West Central District championships at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma.
