I am writing to The Courier-Herald to thank a couple of people for setting up a fundraiser for the St. Elizabeth Hospital.
An article in The Courier-Herald mentioned the fundraiser and its goal to raise $25,000, to name the bridge in the memorial garden after my deceased sister, Elizabeth Crews. The fundraiser, to auction off copies of Elizabeth’s artwork, was a success. It would not have been so without the help of Edward and Lisa Hechter, who organized the entire auction. I would also like to thank Jeff and Debra Schweter, who let us use their restaurant, the Rainier, as the location for the auction, and donate all of the proceeds from the food and drinks to the fundraiser. The wait staff donated all of their tips to the auction, as well as working for no charge. Finally, I thank everyone who came to the auction, for without you, the whole thing would not have happened.
Naming the bridge after Elizabeth means a lot to our family and it helps keep her memory alive, in a way she would have wanted.
