Photographer Lydia Strange presents “Geometric Designs in Our World” at the city of Enumclaw’s Gallery 2008.
The exhibit opened Nov. 5 and will run through Dec. 2.
A Washington native, Strange recently returned to Enumclaw after spending 30 years in Spokane. She not only brought back a husband (also an avid photographer), she brought back her accomplished photographic skills.
According to a city of Enumclaw press release, Strange’s interest in this medium kicked into high gear about 11 years ago when she began using a camera to capture subjects or scenes that time prohibited her from completing in pencil or oil when traveling.
“I enjoy learning new things, seeing new places, and meeting new people through photography,” Strange said. This is evidenced by the fact she has, through the years, belonged to five different camera clubs, two slide study groups, holds membership in the Photographic Society of America (PSA), the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA), and is currently showing her work at the Arts Alive! Gallery in Enumclaw.
Strange feels critiques from judges of international competitions where her photos were adjudicated and accepted, the field experience shared with her husband and other photographers, and knowledge gained by attending workshops and seminars facilitated by many premier photographers, has helped to shape her photographic style. Many of her photographic images have received awards.
With her Gallery 2008 exhibit, she said the strength, visual appeal and orderliness of geometric design which is found regularly in society and often in nature, fascinates her.
Gallery 2008 is located in Enumclaw’s City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibition are 8 a. m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. City Hall is closed on national holidays and on Tuesdays for municipal court proceedings. For information, contact the Enumclaw Cultural Programs office at 360-802-0239.
