Enumclaw resident Rebecca “Becky” Sue Smircich, 61, died March 4, 2011, of a Lupus-related heart attack.
She was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Bremerton, Wash., to the Rev. John and Ginger Smircich, the fifth of seven children. She briefly lived in Lake Bay, Wash., before moving to Cuba City, Wis., and Aplington, Iowa, where she entered grade school. Her family then moved back to the Pacific Northwest, where she spent the next few years in Tacoma and Sunnyside, Wash. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1968.
Her faith came alive in the 1970s and she graduated from Columbia Basin College with honors as a registered nurse. She comforted patients while working in Arizona, Pasco, Wash., and finally in Enumclaw.
She is survived by son John Mason and wife Emily of Spokane; sister Patricia Tuffield of Tacoma; brothers Tom Smircich and wife Sharon of Port Angeles, Wash., Ben Carlson of Denver, and Doug Marks and wife Nancy of Aberdeen, Wash.; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by grandson Samuel, her parents, sister Mary Grace and older brother Timothy.
Services took place Saturday, March 12, at Rainier Hills Christian Fellowship in Buckley.
