Former Enumclaw resident Chester E. Taylor died Dec. 28, 2012, at the age of 93.
He was born June 9, 1919, in Lovelady, Texas, spending his younger years in Texas before moving to Washington in the late 1940s. He married Gail Calkins in 1955 and they lived in Enumclaw for more than 40 years, before moving to Granite Falls, Wash. He worked at Boeing for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He had a passion for horses. He raised and trained many quarterhorses and thoroughbred horses for the race track and raced them throughout Washington and Oregon and was still riding and training at the age of 70.
He is survived by son Robert of Texas; daughters Kay Brooks and husband Jack of Granite Falls and Judy Glazier and husband Larry of Moxee, Wash.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.
A celebration of life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave. in Everett, Wash. A reception will follow at BLT Arena Facility, 21711 Waite Mill Rd. in Granite Falls.
