Peggy Vertrees states in her letter to the editor (March 2) that she has never been bothered by dogs at Mount Peak and that people should just “walk around animals on the trail.”

The number of times I’ve hiked up Mount Peak can be counted on one hand and I’ve had a large dog charge me, growling and barking.

There are two simple points to be made. One: there is a law requiring all dogs to be on a leash. Two: since there is no one to enforce the law, it will continue to be ignored.
