The following is written by Sumner Mayor Dave Enslow:

As the turkey is roasting, and I gather with family and friends, I want to pause and take a moment to share gratitude for things we enjoy here in Sumner:

• For our police officers who face danger every day for our safety,

• For a soon to be built new bridge to The Old Cannery,

• For a City where people feel safe walking, even at night,

•For a train that takes us to Seattle, Tacoma and other places as an alternative to sitting on freeways,

• For good, clean water,

• For an efficient sewer system,

• For a YMCA with arts, exercise, and healthy options for all ages,

• For a charming downtown ready for shopping, parades and celebrations (see below),

• For an industrial area that keeps over 10,000 people baking, roasting coffee, building cabinets and furniture, shaping airplane wings and so much more,

• For a community that cares about others, feeding the hungry through the Food Bank, gathering toys for children, and raising money to fight cancer,

• For individuals willing to give time to serve on the Council, on Commissions, and involved in general,

• For our military who keep our freedoms and our world safe at great personal expense,

• For daffodils and rhubarb pie,

We are all truly grateful. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,
