White River High’s basketball teams – both boys and girls – had little trouble taking care of some league business Friday night.

While the Hornet boys were ringing up a 32-point victory over the Foster Bulldogs in Buckley, the Hornet girls registered a 38-point rout on Foster’s Tukwila campus.

With their 67-29 victory, the White River girls improved to 3-0 for the season and 2-0 in South Puget Sound League 2A play. The squad has yet to be tested, winning its trio of games by 37, 37 and 38 points.

Friday brought more of the same, with the Hornets jumping to an early, decisive lead. White River was on top 25-7 after one quarter of play and headed to the locker room with a halftime advantage of 47-14.

Three Hornets scored in double figures to pace the offense. Kendall Bird had 16, Georgia Lavinder added 15 and Lucy Rasmussen chipped in with 10.

The Hornet boys had a slightly more difficult time, despite the lopsided finish. A lead that reached 30 points early in the second period was sliced to 19 in the third quarter, until White River re-established its dominance.

Alex Wallen scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Hornets. Included among the total were a pair of back-to-back offensive rebounds, which were quickly converted to buckets, that snuffed the Bulldogs’ attempted rally in the third quarter. Joe Flanigan added 14 points and Ryan Larsen had 11 to help spark the offense.

The Friday victory improved the boys’ record to 2-0 in SPSL 2A play and 2-2 overall.
