The city of Enumclaw’s Gallery 2017 will be showcasing the work of local photographer Lisa Parsons.

Her show, entitled “Green River Gorge: A Visual Journey,” will be on display Feb. 2 through Feb. 28 at the City Hall gallery.

The monthly exhibits are a joint effort of the city of Enumclaw and 4Culture of King County.

Parsons has spent many years focused on the preservation of the Green River Gorge. She has walked, swam, kayaked and floated the entire area. She has photographed much of what she has seen and also set up cameras to record nighttime visitors like elk, bear, deer and others.

“My love of adventure has led me to explore all over the world and in my backyard,” Parsons wrote in a formal artist’s statement. “That exploration would, in turn, fuel my passion for conservation. The commitment to raise awareness of the Green River Gorge comes from feeling connected to a place. I’ve spent many days exploring the rim and the river. Those adventures spurred me to turn the love of a place into action.”

Always an artist, Parsons said when she embraced photography, “I discovered a medium that blended together my passions for conservation, adventure and artistic expression.”

The public is invited to a reception for the artist from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 3 at Enumclaw City Hall.

Gallery 2017 is in the council chambers at Enumclaw City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibition space are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
