Anyone interested in joining the Enumclaw City Council has just another week to make their desires known.
Applications are being taken by those hoping to fill the Position 1 seat vacated at the first of the year by Morgan Irwin. He resigned his council post upon being named to a 31st District seat in the state House of Representatives.
All members of the Enumclaw City Council serve at-large, meaning there are no districts within the city. Anyone wishing to be considered for the vacancy must meet all state requirements regarding residency and voter registration (RCW 35A.12.030). The application process consists of a one-page letter of interest, plus a resumé, which must be submitted to City Clerk Maureen Burwell at mburwell@ci.enumclaw.wa.us or by
mail to: City of Enumclaw, attn: City Clerk, 1339 Griffin Ave., Enumclaw, Wash. 98022.
Application materials must be submitted by the close of business on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
The existing council members hope to name a replacement during their meeting of March 13, with swearing-in to take place March 27. The candidate selected to fill the Position 1 vacancy will serve only through the remainder of this year. The position, for a four-year term, will be on the August primary election ballot and decided during November’s general election.
Any questions regarding the council vacancy may be directed to Burwell at 360-615-5608 or the email address above.
