ANIMAL ISSUE: Police were told Dec. 16 of a dog running loose in the area of Edith avenue and Lafromboise Street. The animal was seen killing a cat and threatened the person who later called the police. Police were unable to locate the dog; the cat was found and moved to the side of the road.

CITIZEN ASSIST: An elderly man sought police assistance Dec. 16 with getting home to Edgewood. He was confused, unable to tell where he was or how to get home. He was taken to the senior center until a family member arrived.

DISORDERLY: Police received multiple calls the afternoon of Dec. 16 regarding a man walking eastbound on Griffin Avenue, staggering and wandering into the lane of travel. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

CARBURETOR TAKEN: A Stevenson Avenue resident reported the morning of Dec. 14 the carburetor had been taken from a vehicle. The loss was estimated at $200.

OUT OF CONTROL: Police responded twice the morning of Dec. 14 to a Wilson Avenue address to deal with an out-of-control female. Each time, the girl was counseled and released to her parents.

DOG LOOSE: Police learned Dec. 14 of an unleashed pit bull running loose behind City Hall. When an officer located the dog, it was on a leash and was under control of its owner. The owner is from Renton and was not aware of the city ordinance prohibiting pit bulls. He said he would no longer be bringing the animal to the city.

TIRES SLASHED: Police took two reports Dec. 14 of tires slashed on a Jeep parked at a Roosevelt Avenue home. There were no suspects. Damage was estimated at $300 following the first call; the second call told of tires slashed on the other side of the vehicle. Extra patrol was requested.

NO PROBLEMS: Police responded Dec. 13 after a citizen asked that they check on a man who had recently called a suicide hotline. Contact was made and the man said he was fine.

TRAFFIC HAZARD: Police were told Dec 13 of water over the roadway in the vicinity of Warner Avenue and Watson Street. Officers determined the problem was in King County jurisdiction at Southeast 456th Street and 276th Avenue Southeast, so the county Road Department was advised.

SHOTS HEARD: Police received three calls the morning of Dec. 12 from people who heard gunshots. Two calls came from Douglas Fir Drive and one from Alpine Place. Police found nothing out of the ordinary.

DISORDERLY: A man was seen walking along Griffin Avenue Dec. 12, carrying an open container of alcohol. He was arrested and booked for disorderly conduct.

SOLICITING: A man was reported wandering through an apartment complex the afternoon of Dec. 11, indicating he was deaf and asking for money. Police made contact and advised that he halt his soliciting.

ASSAULT: A victim told police Dec. 11 he had been assaulted by his girlfriend’s father. He declined medical assistance. The suspect was arrested and booked for fourth-degree assault.

JUVENILE ISSUE: A mother contacted police Dec. 10, asking what could be done about a few juveniles who were harassing and hitting her teenage daughter. A no-contact order had been issued through the school, but that didn’t prevent issues arising at the residence. An officer provided information about handling the matter through legal channels and advised that police should be called when any type of assault occurs.
