Bonney Lake now has an empty City Council position to fill.

As of the Sept. 19 council workshop, Katrina Minton-Davis officially resigned from her council No. 7 position.

Minton-Davis told the council of her plans to resign during the Sept. 12 meeting after several other council members asked about her status as an elected official.

“My husband and I are buying a house that is outside of the city. It is a fixer-upper, so we have some work to do on it before we move on to it,” she said, adding she didn’t expect to start living in it until December and is living in a temporary accommodations outside city limits while the house is being finished.

She said they tried to find a home inside the city limits, “but the city limits are pretty small.”

“I’ve enjoyed seeing the changes and helping the city grow up,” Minton-Davis said in an interview after her resignation, adding that she hopes the council will look at its appointee options and pick a representative that will make the council more diverse.

The council has since put out the call for applications for the now open position.

The council plans to hold public interviews of the applicants during the 6 p.m. meeting on Oct. 17.

The chosen appointee is expected to be sworn in during the Oct. 24 meeting.

Minton-Davis’ term ends Dec. 31, 2019.
