Judy Mardell Capponi died peacefully Sept. 20, 2017, at her home in Enumclaw. She was 72.

She was born June 27, 1945, in Gordon, Nebraska, to the late Walter and Oma Simms. She loved spending time with her husband and their dog Bo. She enjoyed quilting, giving her quilts to people, and being with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis; children Dawn Dotson (Danny), Darin Capponi and James Capponi; brothers Dick Simms (Sherry) and Larry Simms (Donna); three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by brother Vernon Simms.

A celebration of her life is planned for 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Buckley Eagles. All are welcome to attend and share memories.
