Children of illegal immigrants should stay

You are not “making America great again.” You are just making it more intolerant to diversity.

There are approximately 43 million immigrants in the United States of America. Twenty two percent of those 43 million immigrants are under 25, meaning most of them were brought here as children by their parents or other relatives. The former President of the United States, Barack Obama, passed an executive order to protect all who came here as children or teenagers, from deportation, as well as giving them a work permit. This order gave so many children and young adults an opportunity for a new life in America. This opened so many doors, like pursuing a career, and possibly raising a family in this great country.

With Donald Trump as the president now, all these doors have been slammed in the DACA recipient’s faces. There is a widely known stigma that these immigrants are criminals. In reality, these people are just trying to make a living and get an education. As a student myself, I can’t help but to feel sympathy for them. If someone decided that I wasn’t allowed to pursue an education because I was brought here as I child, I would be livid. You are not “making America great again.” You are just making it more intolerant to diversity.
