TRAPPED: At 11:38 a.m. July 19, a local business employee requested police to check the welfare of a coworker who had failed to show for work. Several attempts had already been made to contact the woman with no result. An officer made a judgment call that the woman could be in danger and forced entry into the woman’s West Mason Avenue apartment. The woman was found to be OK, but imprisoned in her closet. She refused to say who had locked her inside as well as to pursue any criminal charges, but she did state she planned to obtain a restraining order against someone.
POSSESSION: An officer stopped a car for speeding on the 28100 block of state Route 410 East at 2:58 a.m. Thursday. A stench of marijuana wafted from the car. The driver was asked if he had any of the drug in the car and in response he handed over a small baggie of green vegetable matter and a glass pipe with residue in the bowl. He was placed under arrest for possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a citation and released on scene.
DUI: A 24-year-old man from Covington was stopped for speeding at 9:05 p.m. Friday. He was arrested for possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription narcotics. A drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation and drew blood. DUI charges are pending a blood toxicology report.
