A trio of White River High athletes took part in recent signing ceremonies at their school, cementing their sporting futures.

White River’s talented Lavinder twins, Georgia and Sofia, are taking their athletic talents to the University of Puget Sound.

During a signing ceremony at the Buckley school, they inked letters-of-intent with the Tacoma university. Both are dual-sport threats who will play both basketball and golf for the Loggers.

White River hoop coach Chris Gibson said the girls were initially recruited by the UPS basketball staff. When the golf staff got wind of their accomplishments on the links, the scholarship offer was expanded to include both sports.

During their senior season of Hornet hoops, Georgia Lavinder was named South Puget Sound League 2A Most Valuable Player while Sofia Lavinder was a first-team, all-league selection.

In golf, both will be playing in the upcoming Class 2A state tournament, just as they did following their junior seasons. Each has won SPSL 2A Player of the Year honors, Sofia as a junior and Georgia as a senior.

Keegan Strobeck will take her volleyball skills to the campus of Bellevue College.

The outside hitter was an integral part of a highly successful Hornet program that went undefeated during the fall season and then took fourth-place honors during the state Class 2A volleyball tournament.

To wrap up her senior season, Strobeck was an SPSL 2A first-team, all-league selection. She also was voted to the first team as a junior and had been a second-team selection as a sophomore.
