The Enumclaw High equestrian team has, for the third year in a row, earned the title as the No. 1 “large school” in Washington.
EHS riders took top honors at the state meet, staged May 17-20 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake. The team brought home an impressive trophy to mark the accomplishment.
On an individual note, Enumclaw’s Lindsay Sogge established a Washington High School Equestrian Teams record in barrel racing.
Now, 20 EHS riders are moving on to an annual regional competition against the best the state of Oregon has to offer. The two states meet at the close of each season, alternating host sites. This year’s Pacific Northwest Invitational Championship will take place June 15-17 at the familiar Grant County Fairgrounds.
Top competitors from each state meet earned the right to compete in the Washington-Oregon championships.
Enumclaw High riders advancing to the meet include Kristine Bremmeyer, Kayla Brock, Kylee Brutsche, Sophia Collins, Miesa Floyd, Trinity Forristall, Rylee Geddes, Sarah Haley, Daniela Iacopi, Ashley Jerke, Morgan Kelly, Grace LeSueur, Mattea Mackley, Shaylin Maki, Vanessa Sanders, Emma Schmidt, Savannah Silliman, Lindsay Sogge, Hannah Thom and Makayla Watterson.
