Dan Silvestri

He was a lifelong resident of Kent and attended the University of Washington, where he studied engineering and business.

Dan Silvestri, 73, died of heart failure on June 30, 2018.

He was a lifelong resident of Kent and attended the University of Washington, where he studied engineering and business. As founder of Recreational Distribution Systems with his brother and later Frosty Wholesale, he co-created the iconic ice cream vending scooters. His fleet of 40 scooters graced the parks and streets of King and Pierce counties for more than 40 years. The brothers had depots in Portland and Spokane for a time.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, was a private pilot, a member of the West Valley Community Church and the Sons of Italy-Black Diamond. He was an active member of the Kent Lions Club, where he earned many awards. In his retirement, he worked part-time at Manheim Seattle Auto Auction. He had a passion for family, cars and history, had an interest in everything and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his parents Joe and Nadine Silvestri; wife Becky Silvestri; daughter Jennifer Timme (Dave); brother Deva (Lanny) Silvestri (Billie); sister Cheryl Beck (Gerry); and two grandchildren.

Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent, 98042 , followed by a 2:30 p.m. reception at Kent Historical Museum, 855 E .Smith St., Kent, 98030.
