East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters were called to a residential structure fire on the 2000 block of 112th Avenue East, in Edgewood, at 1:41 p.m. this afternoon. Firefighters from South King Fire and Rescue also responded mutual aid.

Firefighters arrived to find the garage fully-involved with extension to the house. Crews immediately faced hazards of a live, downed power line and a compromised gas supply. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

Multiple neighbors reported the blaze to 911. One person was home at the time and escaped the fire with minor smoke inhalation and was treated and released at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The home is a complete loss. Both the East Pierce Fire and Rescue and Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the fire.
