National Honor Society members – this is the last call for your service verification forms. There are 37 seniors who have not turned in a form and will not be recognized as Honor Society members at graduation unless we hear from you by Tuesday, May 15. Juniors, we need your forms too! Forms can be downloaded from our SWIFT site. Come to room 211 if you have questions.
What is Color Guard? We are a competitive team sport that combines theatre, drill, gymnastics, ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. Regulation equipment includes flags, rifles, and sabres; however, many other “props” may be used in performances, including canes, batons, ribbons, hoola hoops, and anything we can spin, twirl and toss! We are looking for new recruits for our 2012-2013 Season, which includes fall competition with Hornet Marching Band and winter competition in Winterguard. The team is directed by Cheryl Richenburg, head coach, and Janet Johnson, assistant coach, and is open to girls and boys, grades 7th-12th. Please join us this Saturday, May 12, 11am to 2pm in the multipurpose room at JJ Smith. Bring a water bottle and a snack and wear comfortable workout attire. TODAY is the Art Show from 4:00 – 8:00PM in the Commons and 1000 Building. Let’s celebrate our talented students. There will be a silent and live auction AND an awards ceremony at 7:00PM.
Looking for a fun gift for Mom, or just an amazing experience? Come help the Glass and Jewelry CTSO as part of the Enumclaw Artist’s Studio Tour! You and a friend get an hour long, hands-on experience in glassblowing for a reasonable fee! On Saturday, May 12th, from 10 A.M. until 5 P.M. orSunday, May 13th, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Contact Mr. Cook to reserve a class. Come join us for an experience you’ll never forget!
Seniors, if you received an invitation to the senior luncheon on May 24 be sure to RSVP by placing the blue ticket with your name on it in the box in the office. Invitations went to all seniors with a cummulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. If you did not receive an invitation, but believe that you should have, please see Mrs. Ross in room 211.

The Enumclaw School District Board of Directors is currently seeking a “next year” junior to serve as student representative on the school board during the 2012-13 school year. Applications are currently available in the Activities Office and will need to be completed and returned by TODAY, May 11, 2012.
We were just informed that Tyler Carlson has been named to this year’s Star Times Team. The awards luncheon will be held Monday, May 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Times building 1000 Denny Way. There will be a large section in a future issue of the Times honoring Tyler and the other Star Times Team members. Congratulations to Tyler and his family (Ted, Jill and Katie)!
Information in Review:
There is an FCCLA meeting on Tuesday, May 15th during Core/Choice in Mrs. Webb’s room. We’ll be planning our staff appreciation event, officer elections and our cookie dough fundraiser.
Girls basketball meeting after school in the Commons at 2:45PM on Wednesday, May 23 to hand out calendars and discuss summer schedule. All are welcomed!
Congrats to our members of our WAHSET Team (Equestrians) who are off to STATE. Rachel Williams, Carleigh Bartolous, Taylor Davis, Breann Glen and Emma Cross.
Congratulations to our tennis team. Kayla Zilbauer and Camille Clare earned 1st place in sub district doubles tournament. Hannah Smith and Rachel Norling placed 3rd in sub district tournament. Go Hornets, onto District!

In the world of Track & Field: KC Moulden threw the discuss 112’1” to break the school record for the second time this season!!!
Sherry Baer broke our school record in the pole vault with a height of 9’6”. Way to go!
After school math tutoring is available for any students who need a little extra help with homework or preparing for tests. Tutoring is held Tuesday in portable 10 and Thursday in room 211 from 2:40 to 3:30. Drop in for all or just part of the time to get your math questions answered. Hope to see you there.
COUNSELING NEWS:
The April/May Monthly Scholarship & College Information List is now available. Stop by the Counseling or Career Center to pick up a copy or go to the Career Center Swift Website.
If you are interested in taking the ASVAB please stop by the Counseling Center and sign up before Monday, May 14th. This skills and career interest opportunity is free and available for all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.
SENIORS 2012:
Please let us know of any scholarships you have earned. Go to the Enumclaw High School Homepage and click on the link for Senior Scholarship Form and follow directions on form. The deadline to turn any scholarships in is May 18th
Countdown to Commencement:
Each day through June 8th, Mr. Nelson would like one or more 2012 graduates to be featured on the district website as we “Countdown to Commencement”. There is a short form available in the Activities Office to be completed by the graduate. Please return your completed form to the Activities Office. A picture of the graduate will be posted on the website along with the information from the form. We would be pleased to have ALL the 2012 grads featured!
Graduation announcements are available in the Main Office for purchase. They are $1.25 ea.

National Honor Society students. Need Service Hours? If there’s a subject you’re good at or even a topic in a subject that you’re good at, we need you to be a peer tutor during CORE time. Each
week you tutor equals 1 hour of community service time. If you’re interested in being a tutor, see Mrs. Weinbrecht in room 210.
The Native American Club is an opportunity for students to participate in leadership and cultural activities. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the counseling offices. There are no fees to participate in the club. Club participation is a great opportunity to learn about Tribal leadership.
Weight Club meets Mon-Tues-Thurs at 3-4:30. See Mr. Gutierrez for T-shirt after you sign up or Mr. Bartel for schedule.
Need something fun to do on Monday nights? Young Life is the answer. Come join us in the senior locker bay at 7:37PM.

Enumclaw School District Clothing Bank Need clothes? We have them for free. The clothing bank is located at JJ Smith School 1640 Fell Street.
We are here to help you out. We have gently used donated clothes and shoes! . Hours are Tuesdays 10 am – 6 pm. We are open whenever school is in session. Sheila 253-740-1367

The Plateau Running Club of Enumclaw proudly presents the Amazing 3000 Elementary and Open Cross Country race at Southwood Elementary School. Join the fun – the school with the most runners participating will receive a donation to their phy-ed program for new equipment! Applications are available in the Athletic Office.
