The following is a press release from the Pierce County Library System:
Filing taxes is less stressful with help from a knowledgeable source. From February through mid-April, AARP Tax-Aide and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers will provide free one-on-one tax consultations at four Pierce County Library System locations.
Access to tax specialists can help ease the confusion and stress of preparing tax forms. Offering this assistance in Pierce County Library aligns with the Library System’s commitment to help manage people’s stress and help them navigate the real world.
IRS-certified volunteers will help prepare and e-file personal tax returns. VITA sites serve households with an annual income up to $54,000. The AARP tax volunteers will help anyone regardless of their annual income. Most locations will offer help on a first-come, first served basis. Taxpayers are encouraged to arrive early, allow plenty of time, and bring all necessary paperwork, which generally includes W-2 document, photo identification for primary taxpayers and proof of Social Security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number letters for primary taxpayer and all dependents.
