Auburn’s Neely Mansion is celebrating Filipino Heritage Day at the famous historical building on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The event, sponsored by the Filipino American Community of Algona, King County, King County’s 4Culture, and the Neely Mansion Association will last from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Executive director of the Filipino American National Historical Society Dorothy Cordova, author of “Filipinos: Forgotten Asian Americans” and “Filipinos in Puget Sound,” will be in attendance, as well as artist Noel Bautista and members of the Filipino American Retirees Association.
There will also be dancing with the Filipino American Community of Puget Sound, as well as sining, games, and vintage costumes, plus a catered lunch.
And, of course, there’s a chance to tour the renowned mansion and 1930s-era Japanese bath house.
Neely Mansion is located at 12303 S.E. Auburn Black Diamond Road, Auburn, WA, 98092. There is parking at the Highway 18 Park and Ride, where a free shuttle will transport people to the event.
