The Enumclaw High Hornets kicked off the swim and dive season with a 95-82 victory over Auburn Riverside.
The Hornets won nine of 11 events but the Ravens’ depth kept the score even until late in the meet when the Hornets placed first and second in both the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
A trio of Hornets were two-time winners for EHS. Sprinter Ben Jazbutis won the 50 and 100 freestyle events, sophomore Tanner Harms won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and distance specialist Luke Perlot won the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Also winning an individual event for the Hornets was team captain Jacob Hauswirth, who brought home top honors in the 100 backstroke.
Enumclaw’s other victories came in the relays. Taking the 200 medley relay was the quartet of Perlot, Logan McNabb, Hauswirth and Harms. Winning the 200 free relay was the team of Hauswirth, McNabb, Harms and Jazbutis.
Taking second-place honors for EHS were Ricky Bonthuis in diving; Hauswirth in the 100 butterfly; Jo Hughes-Kuruganti, 500 freestyle; McNabb in the 100 breaststroke; and the 400 freestyle relay team of Ethan Blanco, Hughes-Kuruganti, Perlot and Jazbutis.
