Enumclaw’s Chase “The Dream” Hooper made quite a impression Saturday night, winning his UFC debut by technical knockout.
The first-round victory, coming at the 4:35 mark, was over Daniel “Kid Dynamite” Teymur. To earn the victory, Hooper had to bounce back from some early adversity, escaping a choke hold and surviving a big blow.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship bout was on the undercard of the much-anticipated welterweight title bout between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. The festivities were staged at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise Nevada, part of the greater Las Vegas area.
The 20-year-old Hooper – who stands 6-1, fights at 145 pounds and has a reach of 75.5 inches – trains at Enumclaw’s Combat Sports and Fitness. He remained undefeated as a professional (8-0-1) while making his UFC debut Saturday. Since turning pro in 2017 Hooper has two victories by knockout, four via TKO and two by decision.
Hooper’s climb to the big time has progressed quickly. Following a 2018 victory in Dana White’s Contender Series, he was signed to a UFC development deal. He was young and raw, but the potential was there. The climb peaked Saturday with a victorious UFC debut.
