Enumclaw swimmers headed to district meet

Ben Jazbutis, Tanner Harms, Luke Perlot, Jacob Hauswirth and Logan McNabb will be competing this year.

Five Enumclaw High athletes will represent their school this week at the district swim and dive meet.

Headed to the Curtis Aquatic Center in University Place are Ben Jazbutis, Tanner Harms, Luke Perlot, Jacob Hauswirth and Logan McNabb. Those final two earned their district spot during last week’s North Puget Sound League championships. They earned a wild-card entry in the 100-yard backstroke (Hauswirth) and 100-yard breaststroke (McNabb).

The three-day district meet begins Thursday and wraps up Saturday. Top performers from district competition will join the field for the Feb. 21-22 state championships at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

At the NPSL championships. Top 10 finishes were turned in by: the 400-yard freestyle relay placed fifth (Jazbutis, Hauswirth, Harms and Perlot); Jazbutis was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle; Ricky Bonthuis was fifth in diving; Harms placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth in the 200-yard individual medley; the 200-yard freestyle relay placed seventh (Jazbutis, Hauswirth, Harms and Perlot); and Josh Hughes-Kuruganti was 10th in the 500-yard freestyle.

In the final team standings, Enumclaw placed 10 among the 16 schools in the NPSL field.
