Don’t politicize a positive community event

The article about the downtown cruise was nothing but negative.

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to the May 13 article, “Cruising through the ‘Claw: grassroots event saw the city come alive.”

You started out so well and then destroyed it with one sided negative political BS. That’s not why we we’re there!

Guess what, there wasn’t one person there that didn’t want to be or know the dangers or lack thereof of COVID-19.

When you turned to the political part by discussing transmission rate I’m curious why you didn’t state that according to the facts and data currently in Washington State there’s only a 0.24 percent chance of being infected with COVID-19 or a 0.012 percent chance of dying from it.

Guess what? There’s a 1.56 percent chance one of us could have been involved in an accident on the way there with a 0.03 percent chance of death or serious injury, both higher percentage than the Rona. We all as adults decided the risk versus reward, that’s the great thing about liberty!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and their own choices as adults. Life is one big risk and when you stop taking the risks you’re willing to take, are you still living your own life or are you living under the heal of a ruler that decides how and what you can do, ya know, for your safety? Benjamin Franklin once said: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

Be more like Ben!
